Skincare 101

Are you tired of looking for the right kind of products for your skin? Are you the "hit and miss" or "trial and error" kind of person?  We can help you with that.  When choosing your skincare products, simply follow these steps.

1. Assess your skin type.  Is your skin normal, dry, oily, or sensitive. Highly sensitive skin needs advise from your Dermatologist before using any products.  Choose the products for your skin type to see best results.

2. Read the label.  Make sure that most of the ingredients are made from plants or fruits.  Some people’s skin are sensitive to honey or collagen.

3. Test the products on your skin.  Put a small amount of a product to a small area of skin on the inner lower arm, behind your ear, under your jaw, or near your neck. Rub it in and let it dry.

Do not wash that area of the skin for at least 24 hours. Look for any redness, swelling, itching, burning, bumps, or other unusual reaction or discomfort to the skin.  If these signs appear, remove the product immediately from the skin with water.  Any reaction means that you are allergic to the ingredients in the product.

If there is no visible reaction, then it is likely that your skin will not react to the product or ingredient when used on other parts of the body.

4. Toner - Hydrates and prep the skin to effectively absorbs the goodness of other active ingredients.

5. Essence - the heart of korean skincare. It’s the most important part of the routine. Serum, booster or ampoule.

6. Serums, boosters or ampoules. Not necessary for everyone, only for those with brown spots or pigmentation.

7. Mask - depends on your skin’s need. You can swap serum or essence for mask to cut-off time with your routine.

8. Eye cream - for fine lines dark circles.

9. Face cream - the purpose of face cream is to lock in the skin’s moisture.

10. SPF - Use to protect skin from harmful UV rays of the sun.
